I will keep you all posted with details as and when they happen.

Edinburgh Fringe

You may be interested to learn that one of our members will be appearing at the Edinburgh Fringe this year.
That stalwart of the Bass section, Mark Masson, will be appearing in ‘The Long Road’ at the “space on the mile” namely the Radison Hotel, on the 26th and 27th of August. The play itself will run from 22nd to the 27th at 14.35pm and there are two full casts.
If you are in Edinburgh on these dates then why not go and support Mark or why not just make a day of it!.
Fringe venues are hard to fill and so all support will be welcomed.

Making Music Scotland Communication

Making Music Scotland ORCAL Project 2011-2012

This is an important communication, which I would be most grateful if you would make your committee and members aware of.

Making Music Scotland’s orchestral project ORCAL is about to run for a fourth year. It has become very popular amongst those who have already participated, and we want as many people to become involved as possible.

For that reason, I would be most grateful if you could make details about this project known to members of your group. If you are not an orchestral or instrumental group, don’t forget that some of your members maybe are instrumentalists also and interested in taking part in the project!!

The following pages give you the details of the project for 2011-2012 together with a booking form. This information and the form is also available on the website at

www.makingmusic.org.uk/scotland

Thank you for your help in publicising the project amongst members of your group.

With best wishes

Yours sincerely

Richard Shaw
Development Officer Scotland

Tayside Symphony Orchestra Invitation

The following invitation has been received and is extended to all members of Arbroath Choral Society. If anyone is interested then please email me via this website and I can forward the application form mentioned below.

Tayside Symphony Orchestra would like to invite singers (SATB) to join with them for their forthcoming Autumn concert to be held in the Reid Hall, Forfar on Saturday 24th September 2011.
The aim is to resurrect the Tayside Symphony Chorus which combined with TSO for the highly successful Millennium Concert in the Caird Hall, Dundee in 2000.
Within the programme of American music, the chorus will join the orchestra for a performance of Leonard Bernstein’s ‘Chichester Psalms’, as well as singing two songs by Eric Whitacre, entitled ‘Sleep’ and ‘The Seal Lullaby’.
Rehearsal will be under the direction of myself and will take place on the following Tuesday evenings in St Margaret’s Church, Forfar – 16, 23, 30 August and 6, 13, 20 September, with a final rehearsal in the afternoon of Saturday 24th September.
The size of the chorus will be restricted due to available space within the Reid Hall to 100 voices. There will a charge of £10 towards the hire and purchase of the music and other shared costs.
If you would like to be involved in this performance, please email the attached form to conductor@taysidesymphonyorchestra.org.uk by Friday 24 June, after which time, those involved will be contacted.
